Jumpstart Renegrade hockey

This is my first week in Jumpstart PE here is a small amount of my reflection.

Today I would give myself  a 4/5 for effort and participation  in this training because….

Today was my first lesson of PE (Renegraden hockey) so my mind had little knowledge of this sport

but because this is level one PE there are more complex movements and instructions.

Thanks to my partner Vanya and other students in the class I quickly gained enough knowledge about

beginner movements such as passing, trapping to more complicated actions such as Mid-air tap.

Skill(s) I worked on improving was/were…

To have a correct stable stance, make sure I’m a safe player by not raising the hockey stick overmy shoulder, going into contact more confidently and making sure I demonstrated each of the skillsI learned.

Today I helped.. Due to not being present in PE classes earlier this week I wasn’t to help someonelike the rest of the class but I did say positive things to my team members, clapped when they didsomething right and helped my team by passing the ball and by being a defensive player.

Someone who helped me learn and how was... Vanya helped me by making sure I had correctly learnedthe basic renegade hockey skills, making me repeat and practice them before the game and also madesure I was listening to the instructions.

It was challenging to… Get involved with the new students, I had no idea of the skills, I felt shy andlacked confidence. But thanks to past class members and my partner I was able to get involved withthe game, mingle with the students and gained the confidence to be a defensive player.

Something I really enjoyed was…. Playing with different students and making sure I played a good gameso I wouldn’t let my team down. I also enjoyed how supportive everyone is my team waseg. Making sure everyone in the team passed the ball and when coming together we’d identifyany problems and congratulate each other.

Send it challenge!

Kia ora this week in science my class has been working on creating a Catapult involving motion. Our task was to create a catapult that would send a ping pong ball across the room. We had many different ideas and ended up using our original plan in the last five minutes which ended up being real easy to make again. After that we all tested our catapults three times and ours ended up being  a tie with the further-est distance. I really enjoyed making the catapult with my group this concludes my reflection thank you.

NZ Entrepreneur

Kia ora throughout the past three weeks in social studies my class has been working on New Zealand Entrepreneurs. The Entrepreneur I researched was Karen Walker a fashion designer, who launched her label in 1989. Karen Walker's product was invented during a musical performance where she had created a t-shirt for her friend to wear on stage. Karen’s namesake fashion brand has been involved with Disney, adidas and New Zealand’s own Blunt Umbrellas. Overall I enjoyed researching Karen because she had a lot of information behind her and there were images of her label, products and herself, having those helped me gather a lot of knowledge about her. I also created a poster about Karen Walker and her label. This concludes my reflection. Thank you!

What is Algebra?

Kia ora this term in Maths we have been working on Algebra. So far we have worked on Algebraic expression, terms and rules about solving equations. Recently I've watched videos explaining what is Algebra but firstly we need to understand what is Math? Maths explores relationships between things to find a greater meaning and to solve our answer. Algebra is to restore, make equations complete or whole. algebra is to makes those unbalanced things balanced or equal, and equal means the same so algebra is about solving the unbalanced question and making it have the same value. We are still working on algebra so this is the starting knowledge and information I know about algebra, This concludes my blog post thank you!

Leadership and Goverment

 Leadership and government.

A topic which consists of political parties, politics, voting systems and an ability to have your own say or opinion. What is leadership? Leadership is an act of moving forward, random acts of kindness and being the person someone admires. These are key competencies of my understanding. Democracy, a form of government by which people have their own right to choose their government through a voting system. Government is an essential organisation in each individual country, which declares rules/laws for the country. They all relate to the process which is required in parliament, which relates to the prime minister and queen who rule the country. This topic is similar towards my leadership within my school, which is particularised with school leaders and the governor side. This topic was challenging because you had to read through and write facts to get correct answers. My research can become an action for myself, by having the knowledge about parliament, leadership and democracy will help me with work about the government. In conclusion leadership and government is a process each citizen requires either by having street issues, public transport problems etc. We all need a government for our own requirements.

Badminton Arotakenga

Kia ora, Today in Pe my class are reflecting on both of our topics we have covered over the term (Fitness and Badminton). I enjoyed both of these units and was pleased with my scores here is a snippet of my reflections.

Fitness Reflection:

How well did you use those lessons?

I used each lesson properly, always making sure I had a workout and would always push

myself to a limit where my body would feel sore the day after. If I wasn’t prepared I knew

Whaea Waina would have a workout for me.

What would you improve on when given power over your own learning and achievement?

Next time I would really like to improve on my breathing skills, running pace and knowing

how to use the gym equipment properly and efficiently. I know for sure I need to work on

my Hinengaro making sure I don’t give up on myself and making sure I focus on my own

goals.

Here is my Badminton Reflection:

What did you enjoy most about this Badminton unit?

I enjoyed playing badminton because I felt like I could play on the hard/competitive side, my partner helped me grow my skills and I enjoyed having a laugh with the other team.

What gave you the greatest sense of Achievement?

Understanding badminton skills, Helping others to improve eg. My partner taught her to stay composed and never gave up even if we were losing. That’s my greatest sense of achievement knowing I could give someone help/advice and staying composed.

Growth Mindset quote

Correcting mistakes is proof that you are growing!

Leadership within my school:

Kia ora, this week in social studies we were assessed to create a diagram of the school hierarchy from the Ministration of education to the students of Bay of Islands College. I’ve created a Popplet to display my work. Leadership within my school is a topic about identifying the roles of the people in our school and to learn and understand the roles they are set to do. I’ve learnt about the Board of Trustees and the Ministration of education, I didn’t realise that the board of trustees would be ranked higher than the Principal but also didn’t realise that there were more higher roles such as the Ministration of Education and the Maori Ministration of Education. Kelvin Davis is a well known person from Kawakawa who now represents his town in parliament and within this topic being at the top of the Hierarchy. Overall this topic was quite interesting and different, But it was quite difficult trying to find information about the roles this concludes my reflection Thank you.

Speech Reflection

To start term 2 in social studies our class was informed to write a speech about leadership, whose a leader to you and how to be a leader etc. We all had different perspective about what speech we wanted to create. I decided to create a similar speech to my English speech about heroes, I found this task quite hard because I didn't know what topic about leadership I should talk about but otherwise I knew that I should of finished it earlier so I could practice/prepare saying it.

 Leadership speech:

L-E-A-D-E-R-S-H-I-P! leadership
An example of leadership is shown after the rise or action one individual has made which has been recognised by others as leadership. Leadership characteristics are shown by our Prime Minister Jacinda Adern who led New Zealand by Navigating the Covid-19 pandemic, Responding to the Christchurch shootings and now improving women's rights.  Another example would be the National Young Leaders Conference, a New Zealand event where others are dedicated to spark the leadership potential inside every young person through practical and inspiring events.  Both examples are leadership either by being a campaign which inspires young children to become leaders and a leader who doesn’t do things for the country but for the people.  Oprah Winfrey, Kate Sheppard,Jacinda ardern all who have leadership characteristics in their own unique but way by you now may be wondering what is a leader? Everyone has their own definition of a leader either someone who helps you catch up in work, someone who takes the role in a school project etc . Everyone has their own type of leader. A leader is someone who can see how things can be improved. Leaders work together making their future a reality and continue to do so while putting people first and a leader is someone who people choose to follow for a better vision for themselves and others. WE are leaders and together we create a difference. A good leader inspires people to have confidence in the leader, a great leader inspires people to have confidence in themselves.
Thank you.

Hitler and the Nazi gang

Kia ora this week in Social Studies our class was informed to write a detailed explanation about how the Nazi consolidated their power. There are eight questions to answer and a Final paragraph explaining about what you have learned. I really enjoyed researching about the Nazi gang and Hitler, how they worked, what they did etc. I learned about different German political party's,  (The SA = Sturmabetilung, the SS = Schutzstaffel) which were helping/working alongside with the Nazi party, After-all this was a very interesting topic it contain useful information about Hitler and the Nazi gang. The infomation that I gathered and researched gave me a insight about the type of people who were apart of the Nazi gang, This was thoughtful for me to know and understand because I needed to create a explanation about them. A helpful thing for the Nazi were The Reichstag fire and President Hindenburg's death. Those situations created an atmosphere which the Nazi used for others to complement them and to build their friendship with the government. This was helpful because the Nazi needed to create a relationship with the government and the German people to build their power. A question I would want a answer to would be, Which groups of people in Germany were considered as enemies of the state by the Nazis and why they were persecuted/imprisoned? That concludes my reflection thank you.

Schindler's list blog reflection

Schindler's list

Kia ora for the past two weeks in social studies my class has been watching the movie ‘Schindler’s list’. While watching the movie we had to use information from the movie to write a reflection afterwards.  I really enjoyed learning about the German army and Jewish people because I could learn and see different emotions from them eg. Oskar Schindler he cared about the Jewish people even though he was a Nazi, Amon Geoth having no sympathy for the Jewish children, Women and men.  Oskar Schindler was a thoughtful person because of the sacrifice he made to save the Jewish, He sacrificed himself after years and then got hunted down to be executed for saving 1100 Jews.  The information in the movie was really helpful because it gave you more information than google, Another thing that was helpful was learning about what really happened and you felt like you could experience what they went through. I would like to know Why did Oskar Schindler save the Jewish? He was a Nazi and what convinced him to sacrifice his own life for them? That concludes my reflection thank you.

Human Rights Events (HRE newspaper headline).

Kia ora this week in Social studies our task was to create a newspaper headline about a human rights event.  My class was given some pointers and question to use and answer in the article eg. How,when, where and why you are writing your story and ideas to make our newspaper article attractive.  This task was quite easy but also hard because I needed to search for a book that contained information I needed and making sure it was presentable. Anyways here is a image of the Matariki stars.

Comparing two Human Right Declarations.

Kia ora, in the past week in Social Studies my class 10T have been studding about The Universal Declarations of Human rights. The task is about Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Human Right declarations.  The work i'll be showing you today is about comparing the differences and similarities to each other.
